Milagro Technology

At Milagro we implement our own technologies for the manufacture of musical instruments, using composite materials that we have devised from scratch, developed through acoustic engineering.

From materials to the instrument, from matter to shared emotion.
Where there is music there is community.

Milagro’s mission

At Milagro we are luthiers by vocation. Our aim is to produce the best musical instruments, in an unyielding quest for acoustic and functional excellence.

As a result of our ambitious mission and our curiosity, and bearing in mind the constraints of working with wood, we uncovered the advantages of composite materials. Today, we implement our own technologies for the manufacture of musical instruments, using composite materials that we have devised from scratch, developed through acoustic engineering.

Greater sustain, volume and sound projection

Our musical instruments optimise the transformation of vibration into sound. So the notes played last longer, and the volume and projection of their sound is greater.

Excellent traceability

Composite materials allow for consistent and repetitive manufacturing processes that iron out acoustic differences between units, ensuring homogeneous quality between units of the same model, unprecedented in the world of wood-based acoustic instruments. Our musical instruments always attain the quality we are looking for.

More durability and convenience of use

Our musical instruments are not affected by changes in humidity or temperature. They do not shrink or swell, always maintaining their measurements, so their risk of breakage, bulging or degradation is reduced, and their pitch remains stable under any weather conditions.

Likewise, the string height (or action) on our stringed instruments can be conveniently adjusted, avoiding the usual excessive tolerances caused by the instability of wood, and helping to reduce performance failures and injuries from overexertion.

Sustainable materials

The use of composite materials helps avoid over-exploitation of natural resources. We contribute to sustainable development by using composite materials rather than exotic woods, avoiding the mass felling of centuries-old trees whose noble wood is currently used by the classical instrument manufacturing industry.

Acoustic engineering and composite materials

Composite materials are the product of blending two or more materials into one, to achieve a combination of their properties that would be impossible to obtain from the original materials on their own.

Our composite materials, Carbon Fibre Acoustic Spine and Linen Fibre Acoustic Spine, are very close to theoretical perfection for the manufacture of acoustic instruments. Their high rigidity and low mass are ideally suited to manufacturing very lightweight sound conducting surfaces that need less energy to vibrate.

In addition, our UHMAA measurement technology gives us a comprehensive insight into the acoustic behaviour of instruments and their materials. This affords us an understanding of any defects and enables us to correct them, to imagine the ideal sound and to achieve it. Through acoustic engineering, we adjust our materials and instruments, working with our own composite formulae, to achieve precisely the acoustics we are looking for.
