Graduated in Sculpture from the Stuttgart State Academy of Fine Arts in 1954, Otto Herbert Hajek was an artist with a soul of service. He always defended his people, worked for them and educated them. After lucrative years developing his own work, based on geometrical combinations of heavy materials with primary colour details, Hajek was appointed president of the German Association of Artists (1972-1979), where he campaigned for the social security of artists, which had been unfair until that moment.

In 1978, Otto Herbert Hajek joined the teaching world, being teacher of sculpture until he was appointed director of the department in 1980.He taught until 1992, transmitting his work and noble social perspective to the generations that followed him.
