Colapso Studio has transformed an ancient toy factory cheek-by-jowl with the sea in Mataró, Catalonia, into the headquarters of the children’s clothing brand Bobo Choses.

The renovation entailed converting the 600 sq. m. industrial premises into a colourful studio formed by offices, a showroom, a meeting room, a photography set and a canteen. It is now a comfortable, multi-purpose setting linked by large glass windows, the perfect backdrop for enabling the brand’s creative world to evolve.

The furniture designed by Colapso Studio and produced by local carpenters and workmen includes designer pieces by prominent firms including Vitra, Andreu World and Santa & Cole. Objects of varying textures and colours that come together in order to make the perfect looking glass for the originality of the brand and its slogan “Have fun!”.

For the lighting, the interior design studio chose the following lamps: Akari by Vitra; Wo & We; and the GT7Arne DomusTMM  and Cestitafrom Santa & Cole. The four latter models serve specific functions owing to their designs and the lighting types. The Arne Domus spotlight illuminates the work desks in the office and meeting room and the showroom. The monumental GT7 pendant lamp shrouds the design team’s meeting table with character and lends a hint of colour. Lastly, the TMM and Cestita designs by Miguel Milá enhance the harmony and warmth of the work areas and are conducive to conversation.

The upshot is a dynamic, lively and comfortable work setting where the imagination can run free.
