Estadio is a family of luminaires that pays tribute to functionalist industrial architecture and public lighting, with glass block as its defining element. Widely used in Spain between the 1950s and 1980s—especially in public and communal buildings—this material offered an affordable solution during times of brick scarcity, while allowing natural light to pass through without compromising privacy—thanks to its translucent quality. Its modular repetition, sober geometry, and durability connect it to an urban and popular aesthetic rooted in efficiency and formal clarity.
The original Estadio design is the luminous ring conceived for Barcelona’s Olympic Stadium on the occasion of the 1992 Olympic Games, where it remains in use to this day. Its shape recalls the wrought-iron chandeliers of medieval palaces and cathedrals, reinterpreted here through a contemporary lens.
From this emblematic piece, the family has grown to include linear models and wall sconces for both indoor and outdoor use. Always preserving the essence of glass block as a material filter, whose three-dimensionality breaks the light and adds texture to the space, creating a dense and vibrant atmosphere.
