At the core of Sistema Matricial lies a shared vocabulary: the fabric lampshade. With variations in scale and proportion —taller, wider, flatter— these structures, dressed in woven ribbon or stitched parchment, form a common visual language that flows across typologies: from table to pendant, wall to floor.
It is a fabric of relationships, a flexible and coherent matrix in which each luminaire retains its own character while connecting to others through shared components. Like the shades from Básica, also present in the SíSíSí pendant lamps.
This broad family stems from a shared vision: to uphold warmth, embrace craftsmanship as a form of modernity, and use humble materials to create refined lamps with a striking visual impact.

Its foundation dates back to the early days of Santa & Cole, when we chose to embrace what is close and handmade over the prevailing trends of the cold and the technical. A way of doing that continues to guide us today, in the pursuit of honest, enduring objects.
Our first lighting projects, in Barcelona’s nightlife scene, taught us how to observe the dark. In those spaces, beyond sunlight, we began to understand how artificial light transforms environments, and those who inhabit them. We played with intensity, with color, with shadow. And we discovered that the less light, the softer and kinder it becomes.
Every light source has both a shape and a function, and in both lies an aesthetic component. Ours is warmth. As Nina Masó, co-founder of Santa & Cole, often reminded us: “it’s about making people look beautiful in the light.” Because good light makes us better.
Ultimately, Sistema Matricial is a way of thinking about light through care, coherence, and craftsmanship.
