The space had stood unused for years. Rather than erase it, Danielle Siggerud chose to reveal it: the arched niches, the exposed brick walls, the painted wooden plank door were kept as they were, or carefully restored to their original state.

New elements were designed with equal attention. The counter is solid Carrara marble with curved edges. The door pull, in hammered aged copper, takes its silhouette from Karl Blossfeldt’s botanical photographs. The hand-crafted cabinet in solid pine draws on the tradition of Scandinavian cabinetmakers. Maija, Ilmari Tapiovaara’s 1955 lamp, belongs to the same tradition.

The Sísísí Cónicas Largas in parchment, and Tekiò’s washi paper shades bring something else: the soft, diffuse warmth that paper holds against light — the kind a room needs when a Danish winter sets in outside.
