Antoni Arola — A Dialogue with Light
Santa & Cole presents the work of Antoni Arola at the Karimoku Research Center in Tokyo. This exhibition explores the many ways in which the Spanish designer’s practice engages in a dialogue with light, offering distinct perspectives through immersive installation, product design, and the creative process.
Antoni Arola’s practice is rooted in intuition, observation, chance, and a playful dialogue with matter. His works — whether luminaires or light installations — do not begin with a defined function or fixed form, but emerge through subtle discoveries, unexpected connections, and the gradual search to understand and shape light.
Spread across three floors of the Karimoku Research Center, the exhibition traces a continuous dialogue between Antoni Arola and light. It begins with a poetic, sensory immersion, continues with the presentation of his lamps edited by Santa & Cole and the architectural modelling of light in space, and culminates in an open-ended glimpse into the creative universe of his studio. In every stage we invite you to discover a distinct encounter — immersive, spatial, intuitive — that together compose a portrait of his practice as an ongoing conversation with the intangible presence of light.
サンタアンドコールは、カリモクリサーチセンターにてアントニ・アローラの作品を紹介します。本展はスペインのデザイナーであるアローラの制作が光との対話を通じて多様なアプローチを試み、没入型インスタレーション、プロダクトデザイン、創作プロセスを介して独自の視点を探求するものです。
アントニ・アローラの作法は、直感、観察、偶然、素材の遊びのある、制約のない自由なプロセスから生まれます。照明であれ、光のインスタレーションであれ、既定の機能や形から始まることはありません。静かな発見や思いがけない結び付き、そして光を理解し形作るための徐々なその姿を表します。
カリモクリサーチセンターの３フロアに渡る本展は、アローラと光との一連の対話をたどります。私的で感覚的な体験から始まり、空間における光の建築的な造形の展示へと進み、最後はアントニ・アローラスタジオの創造的な世界へと誘います。それぞれのフロアは没入的・空間的・直感的な独自の体験を提供します。これら全てが彼の創作の肖像を形作る。光という実体の無い存在との継続的な対話です
