Anna Calvera (1955-2018) was a thinker and researcher specialised in the field of graphic design. She graduated in graphic design and went on to receive her PhD in Philosophy at the University of Barcelona. She is also remembered for her institutional work, running projects, organising congresses and supporting a range of different relevant entities and initiatives: she was a member of the ADG/FAD and the ADP; of the Design History Society; one of the founders of the History of Art & Contemporary Design Research Group (GRACMON) at the UB and the Design History Foundation, among others.
Considered one of the highest authorities in the field of history and design theory, she was a regular public speaker and stressed the importance of history in understanding the different phenomena of design, and its role as an economic factor.
