Juan Diego Thielen
Graduated in sculpture from Escola Massana in Barcelona, where he has lived for ten years, Juan Diego Thielen focuses his main body of work on concrete and iron. These solid, cold, heavy, and firm materials allow him to establish an intimate dialogue during the creative process and serve as a channel for existential reflection on essential aspects of life, such as nostalgia or the passage of time. What can these materials tell us? They speak of stability and continuity. Can they also speak of love or the soul?
Thielen uses photography to capture reality, creating a visual archive of images and memories that are fundamental to the construction of his artistic universe. Finally, painting offers him a space of absolute freedom. The canvas allows him to transcend the rational and temporal: recognizable images dissolve, opening the door to a visual language of infinite possibilities where his imagination unfolds with full liberty.
Thielen has exhibited his work in solo and group shows in Catalonia, Marseille, and Ibiza.
