Eulàlia Serra

Eulàlia Serra

Serra is an interior architect who has undertaken major projects such as refurbishing Barcelona's Liceu Theatre and Palace of Pedralbes, in addition to being an expert in applied arts and a curator.

Eulàlia Serra was born in Barcelona in 1943, where she studied Interior Architecture at the Elisava School before starting her professional career. She later went to New York to study at the prestigious Parsons School and Columbia University.

On returning to the Catalan capital in the early 1990s she set up Fil i Grana, offering contemporary designs embroidered with traditional techniques, which won national and international awards. In 1994 she joined architecture firm Ignasi de Solá-Morales, where she worked on the reconstruction of the Liceu Theatre.

From 1995 to 2001 she was vice-chair of FAD (Promotion of Decorative Arts), where she founded Alimentació/FAD, an association aimed at studying food and gastronomy.

In 2005 she won the tender to refurbish the ground floor of Pedralbes Palace in Barcelona and led the project.

She has curated several exhibitions, including: The kitchen and the home (‘La cocina y la vivienda’) (Barcelona, 2000), Bijoux: the glamorous years (Bijoux: los años glamurosos) (Barcelona, 2001), and 100% Catalan Design: 100  chairs, 100 books, 100 shoes (Stuttgart, Germany, 2002).
