Industrial Facility

Based in London, Industrial Facility was founded in 2002 by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin, bringing together the perspectives of a British industrial designer and an American architect. Their work strikes a balance between functionality and culture, rooted in the belief that everyday objects can be made better without needing to be radically different. They aim to design products that endure, perform effectively, and offer a quiet kind of satisfaction—often beyond what is expected.

Recognized for their thoughtful blend of philosophy and pragmatism, Industrial Facility is considered one of the most forward-thinking studios in product, furniture, and exhibition design. They have collaborated with pioneering companies around the world and explored new frontiers of design, including Internet-connected products (IoT) through their Future Facility initiative.

Their work is part of the permanent collections of leading institutions such as MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the V&A in London, and the Design Museum in Helsinki. Both Hecht and Colin are Royal Designers for Industry and members of the Royal Society of Arts.
