He trained with his father, Willem van de Velde the Elder, with whom he would later collaborate closely.

Specializing in naval scenes, Van de Velde II depicted both calm seas and violent storms, capturing nearly every type of vessel of his time, whether military or commercial. His highly detailed and precise drawings have proven invaluable for understanding 17th-century shipbuilding.

This painting shows the Dutch fleet stationed at Goeree, at the entrance to the Haringvliet, one of the estuary channels of the River Meuse. The work is signed with his initials —“W V V”— on a piece of driftwood floating in the lower left corner.

Museum Neoseries, numbered and certified, increase in price by 10% with each unit sold.
Always produced on demand, their value lies in the experience of beauty itself.
