Pacheco noted that Rubens \"copied all the works of Titian that the King owns.\"\r\nA 1636 inventory of the Alc\u00e1zar, ordered by Philip IV, gives a precise description of an oil painting hung in the king\u2019s bedroom, in the lower summer chamber: \"An oil painting of a Venus with bare breasts, dressed in crimson fabric lifted up, wearing a pearl bracelet on her right hand and a ring on the pinky of her left; Cupid, naked, stands before her holding a mirror in which she is looking at herself.\" This original Titian, once owned by Philip II, matches exactly the composition created by Rubens.","transactions":"
