The Olympics were held in Barcelona in 1992. In this respect, it is worth stressing the important work of creating new urban facilities and infrastructures to make way for what were the best organized and most brilliant games in history.

The urban renewal of the Olympic Village involved opening up the city to the sea. In this privileged setting of the Barcelona coast, the Lampelunas Streetlamp (designed by J.A. Martínez Lapeña and Elías Torres) stands out as a true beacon of light. ADI FAD Delta de Oro Award 1986, it is one of the first lighting elements to express a concern for its formal impact on the urban environment.
