Port Aventura opened its doors in 1995, becoming the first theme park in the whole country. At present, Port Aventura continues to be a point of reference in the sphere of leisure complexes. Its expansion project, in collaboration with Santa & Cole, involved a careful intervention when it came to tackling the outside lighting, and the selection and arrangement of the different elements of street furniture.
In relation to the lighting systems, the Rama Streetlamp family (designed by Gonzalo Milá) was used in a widespread manner. The selection of elements of street furniture was likewise carried out with the idea of guaranteeing maximum dialogue between the elements and the natural environment where they are located. The Bancal (designed by Olga Tarrasó and Julià Espinàs), Trapecio (Montse Periel and Antonio Montes) and Comunitario (Diana Cabeza) benches were thus selected as ideal elements thanks to their good integration in green spaces.
The use of Vía Láctea model Santa & Cole pergolas (designed by Enric Batlle and Joan Roig) should also be stressed. Their noble shelter made from pinewood strips provides a pleasant shade on the Catalan coast's hottest summer days.
