Josep Selga presented Air-Pots TM, an innovative container which prevents the circling of the roots and allows an optimal development of the root structure
The TED independent programme highlighted in particular a series of initiatives linked to children and the reinvention of already established actions such as eating, reading or growing trees

On 7 July last the second TEDx Barcelona event took place, the programme of local talks organized independently around the three main areas which form the pillars of TED: Technology, Entertainment and Design. Thinkers and entrepreneurs shared experiences and projects with an audience of more than six hundred people in a setting in which, as Alfons Cornella says, the established and the emerging are connected.
Among the speakers in this programme, Josep Selga, a biologist, specialist in urban arboriculture and Publisher of Santa & Cole Tree Nursery Division, presented Air-Pots TM, reinventing tree-growing, a talk on how to grow trees which can be planted in the city and which are developed optimally in an anthropic environment. This new system materializes in the innovative recycled and reusable plastic container Air-Pots TM, which allows a radial, dense and branched growth of the tree?s root system, which leads to optimal growth of its roots and, therefore, to a substantial saving in time in the tree?s adaptation to its new environment.
