Architects, landscape gardeners and technicians from the public and private sector shared the I Conference on trees with the talks “The Human Experience of Urban Green Spaces” and “Trees in Urban Design”, presented, respectively, by Dr. José Antonio Corraliza, from the Social Psychology Department of the Autonomous University of Madrid, and Josep Selga, biologist and publisher of Santa & Cole's Tree Nursery Division.

Dr. Corraliza presented green spaces not as a luxury, but as a feature which determines the quality of life of the inhabitants of cities.

Josep Selga spoke in favour of incorporating green spaces and trees into urban design in order to create more habitable cities.

Santa & Cole, following the success and the interest aroused by the Madrid conference, plans to hold the conference The Strata of the City on the coming 22 and 23 October, in its Parc de Belloch headquarters in La Roca (Barcelona) and in Bescanó (Gerona). The conference will deal with the urban design of the three planes on which the public space is developed – the vertical plane, the surface and the subsoil -, with the aim of confronting one of the main challenges of contemporary cities: sustainability in the information society.
