On 7 October last, Josep Ma. Serra, Santa & Cole's Editor of urban elements, received in Madrid, from Beatriz Corredor (Housing Minister), Miguel Sebastián (Industry, Tourism and Trade Minister) and Miquel Espinet (President of the FAD), the prize awarded by Mater, the FAD's materials centre, for the development of a novel material applied to the structure with injection arm of the NeoRomántico Sostenible bench edited by Santa & Cole: a material composed of recycled polypropylene reinforced with 30% fibreglass.

The awarding of this prize also inaugurated the exhibition «Mater in progress. New materials, new industry», whose aim is to show and to present innovation and technological development through materials.

Ideas are immaterial, but they are always associated with a material. In turn, new materials and technological development always tend to be the driving force of new ideas.

The NeoRomántico Sostenible bench is the result of a revision of the classical NeoRomántico bench, an icon in the design of urban elements in the European public space, designed by Miguel Milá in 1995. Santa & Cole takes the initiative of being environmentally involved in improving the life cycle of urban elements, launching this new version with recycled and recyclable materials, more resistant to corrosion, ageing and extreme uses.
