Santa & Cole’s showroom in London will showcase the young Italian designer’s project as part of the London Design Week, which will take place from the 19th to the 25th of September

From its beginnings, Santa & Cole has been seeking to improve the usage experience of its products, which implies a reflection on material culture and the relationship between people and objects. Similarly, Elena Comincioli’s new project explores the intangible relationship that exists between people and the objects surrounding them. To Elena, “objects are not only linked to the first moment of emotion (when we feel the urge to purchase them); they are something more: they are the companion we choose for our daily life, and that is why it is important to choose them carefully. Objects have a soul, and they can interact with you if you give them the chance to be part of your everyday life.”
The Growing Table indeed encourages the interaction between the user and the object, reinforcing such intangible relationship. The project consists of a table with a central vegetable garden where aromatic herbs grow, filling the table with life. And the process of use is simple: cook, sit at the table, choose which herb best complements our dish, and enjoy its taste and freshness.
The relationship between Santa & Cole and Elena Comincioli begun during the Euroluce fair in Milan, in April 2011, with the project of the Association of Architects’ entrance transformation into a quiet garden in the midst of the agitated design week. In this occasion, the showroom in London will be turned into a greenhouse filled with light and flavors where people, nature and objects will interact.
