La Barraca was born in May 2011 under the guidance of Nina Masó, cofounder and editor of Santa & Cole’s interior collection, and Dario Valero, interior designer in charge of the indoor sales department, with the intention of bringing the latest releases of the Barcelona publishing company closer to design and architecture professionals from all Spanish cities. Inspired by the Travelling Theatre Company of Federico García Lorca and Eduardo Ugarte, which performed classical Spanish theatre in small towns around the country from 1932, Nina and Dario loaded the pieces most recently incorporated into the indoor catalogue on the back of a van, and headed to Palencia. La Barraca’s first tour was a success in Oviedo, Santander, Gerona, Menorca and Barcelona.

La Barraca by Santa & Cole will be presented at the Madrid showroom on September 22d and 23rd, to then continue its travelling toward Galicia, the Basque Country, Valencia and Andalucía, and reach Lisbon in January 2012, crossing the Spanish borders to celebrate a third tour that will bring the arts of Santa & Cole’s design to professionals in Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. 

As in puppet theater and with a kind of magic, Nina Masó manages to bring the audience closer to the arts of Santa & Cole design, not by performing a common product presentation or a theatre play, but sowing emotions from both, thus turning the event into an extraordinary design experience.
