Though its shade was inspired by the old, endearing oil lamps, it is really a homage to the mythical lamp series designed by George W. Hansen in the 1950s, based on the swing of their middle articulated arm. In the same way the Americana series, formed by a table lamp, a floor lamp and a wall lamp, are built around their articulated arm, this time in a single section and in a right angle defining its basic geometry, and transfering the joint to the vertical axis of the shaft to provide them with an improved mechanical behaviour.
