NeoRomántico Color

Miguel Milá. 2009

CREA! MATER (First Award ) 2009

This piece completes the extensive family of NeoRomántico benches with totally updated materials: recycled and recyclable engineering polymers, which are more resistant to corrosion and ageing.

The main change to the NeoRomántico Color bench is different material, which has led to a slight modification in the structure and the length of the medium-sized bench. It has also afforded a subtle aesthetic revamp, without altering the ergonomic profile that has become so widely accepted over the years.
Polymers afford an array of colours and combinations. Furthermore, with sun- and rain-resistant materials, maintenance is kept to a minimum.

Miguel Milá

Barcelona, 1931

Miguel Milá represents like no other person Spanish contemporary design. He belongs to the pioneer's generation of the 50s, and has seen how many of his pieces of furniture and lamps have become real classics.

Miguel Milá was born in a Catalan aristocratic family with strong links with the artistic world (his ancestors assigned the Milá House, also known as La Pedrera, to Gaudí), and started working as an interior designer in the architecture studio of his brother Alfonso Milá and Federico Correa. It was the end of the 50s, a time of crisis when Spain hardly knew what industrial design was.

Product technical information

Materials and Finishes

Structure with arm made of recycled polyamide injection with 30% fiberglass.
The slats are 30 mm thick and made from a blend of engineering polymers with 50% recycled plant fibres. Like the other benches in the family, five are straight and two are curved.
The slats have an acrylic paint finish with anti-graffiti protection. Like all surface finishes, maintenance varies according to use and local weather conditions.

Installation

It is attached to the ground by anti-corrosive treated anchor bolts on every leg which are placed in holes drilled into the road surface and filled with epoxy resin, quick-setting cement or similar.
The bench is delivered dismantled, unless otherwise specified.

Maintenance

No functional maintenance is required, except to preserve the original colour of the slats. Discolouration is between 10 and 20% due to continued exposure to the sun in the first year, after which the colour stabilises.
