ADI FAD (Selection), Barcelona 1997

In 1946, Arne Jacobsen and Erik Möller built the new, truly representative council building in the Danish city of Aarhus, and also took on the task of tackling its interior design. This is how this widely-used wall lamp came to see the light of day, combining the sturdiness of a brass skirt and the delicateness of an opal-shaped blouse, in the form of a loosely organic oval. Firm, formal tenderness in the civil service.

Arne Jacobsen is considered one of the fathers of Danish modern design. His work is one of the most personal and productive interpretations of Functionalism. Mixing it with Danish traditional aesthetic style, he achieved to create a modern and contemporary style.

Jacobsen is one of the most outstanding Danish architects and industrial designers of the twentieth century. He introduced modern architecture in Denmark and contributed to its further development, providing it with versatility and a clear understanding of the functions of design.
